We Are Finally Online
After having Bill's computer programmer draft of our family web site online for
what seems like an eternity... we have finally uploaded our more involved site! Most of this was
created back in September 1999. However, with the installation of our new hard drive, we lost a few
graphic files (which we didn't realize we would need when we transferred things to zip disks). This
opened the door to create a few more images. Even as we look at the site now, we are already
getting tired of it and may fix it up again. But at least we have something more involved nline now.
Alexander Gets His Cast Off... and Then Gets a New Red One
Alexander went to the bone doctor on Wednesday (July 26, 2000) for a follow-up appointment concerning his broken left arm. When
the doctor came into the room, Nicholas was quick to point his finger to Alexander, who was sitting
rather patiently on the exam table, in hopes that the doctor would know who exactly was the patient.
Dr.Scott thought that was funny. The nurse came in to remove Alexander's purple cast, which had been worn
rather cautiously the past two weeks (he managed to keep it rather clean). After the nurse
used the saw, she plied apart the two sections. Nicholas thought it was incredible. He let out a
rather loud "eeeewwwww!" We all laughed. The x-rays showed that Alexander's bone was healing
as expected. However, he will need to keep a cast on it for another two weeks... and hopefully not any longer.
This time Alexander picked out a bright red color. The cast was a bit shorter and a lot
thicker than the first one. Of course, Nicholas had to investigate his brother's new accessory. Unfortunately,
Alexander cannot get hot and sweaty... so he has spent a lot of time playing with his Legos and making
lots of drawings... like this one: Alexander's Most Recent Drawing of Mommy
It's Almost Time for Kindergarten
We bought all the school supplies and have ordered school uniforms. Now all we have
left to do is pay the book fee, PTA dues, and turn in updated immunization forms. It's hard to
believe that Alexander starts kindergarten on August 17, 2000.
Nicholas Learns More New Words
Our silent investigator has finally begun really talking now. It seems he is
learning new words every day. His latest phrase is "Eeewwww, baby!" So far the only words he is saying
are: "hey, Mommy, Daddy, cookie, Dottie, car, baby, yum, night-night, bye-bye, Nana, uh-oh and dog." Sometimes
he can say "kitty" and "ball" successfuly, but not every time. He still can't say Alexander's name (no surprise there).
We've tried to see if he can say "Ander" or "brother" but no luck yet. He
attempted to say "waffle" (his favorite breakfast food), but it is still rather jumbled. "Car" is
his favorite thing to say right now (besides "eeewwww"). He absolutely loves cars. He enjoys
standing in his crib and watching the cars drive by on the street while commenting "car" each time.
Out To the Ball Game
Bill received free baseball game tickets and coupons for free hot dogs and
drinks, so we all headed out to the baseball game on Tuesday (July 25, 2000). The boys enjoyed
watching the game and eating treats. Alexander clapped for which ever player caught the ball (as usual) and
Nicholas clapped along with him. The music... and eating ice cream out of a plastic baseball hat (all by himself)
were Nicholas' favorite things about the event. Alexander was fascinated with how high the
ball was frequently hit. Amazingly, we managed to make it through the 6th inning before the
boys were too restless to hang around any longer.
